GU Wraps Strong Tournament at EWU Fall Classic

Zags collected 17 singles wins on the day

CHENEY, Wash. – Gonzaga men's tennis turned in another strong effort at the EWU Fall Classic on Saturday in Cheney, Wash.

"We saw a better level today in singles from the guys," head coach Jonas Piibor said. "In doubles, we are still not as aggressive as I want us to be yet, but we will get back to work next week on that. I am pleased with our energy level and the resiliency we showed this weekend. Our newcomers are adjusting well and keep improving. As we close the book on our first fall tournament, we have a lot of positives we can take from it moving forward."

In singles, six Zags collect two wins each on the day. Sam Feit won his two matches in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2 and 7-5, 6-4 as one of three Zags that won both singles matches in straight sets. Freshman Brandon Park won his two matches 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-3, while freshman Oliver Andersson earned victories of 6-0, 6-3 and 6-4, 7-5.

Freshman Matthew Hollingworth dropped his first set of the day, but battled back to win twice, 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-4.
