Men’s Tennis Takes Doubleheader

GU defeated Seattle 4-0 and Idaho 4-1

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga men's tennis took both ends of a doubleheader handily on Saturday, defeating Seattle U 4-0 and Idaho 4-1 at the Stevens Center.

Gonzaga (8-2) started the day with a clean sweep over Seattle U, and then went on to win all four singles matches that finished against Idaho, leaving them 7-0 in singles on the day.

Against Seattle U, the Zags got it started with doubles wins on Nos. 1 and 3. On Court 1, GU's Matthew Hollingworth and Sam Feit won 6-3, while the pair of Matthew Perkins and Bryan Husin dominated in a 6-1 victory.

In singles against the Redhawks, Hunter Egger dropped just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Oliver Andersson then had the same scoreline to win at No. 2, and Kyle Everly finished it off with a 6-1, 6-2 win on No. 3.

In the night cap, GU dropped the doubles point against the Vandals, but dominated singles to take its sixth straight victory.

Andersson took his second victory of the day on No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-2 win to tie the score at 1-1. Eric Hadigian won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 and Feit won 6-1, 6-3 on No. 1 to set up the clinching point. Hollingworth then claimed the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win on No. 2.

Gonzaga is back on the road at the Mountain Pacific Challenge with three matches in Fresno, Calif., from Feb. 29-March 1.
