TULSA, Okla. -- The Gonzaga men's tennis team continued their performance at the ITA All-Americans earlier today, with Gonzaga's Sasha Trkulja participating in the singles competition, along with being paired with Matthew Hollingworth for the doubles competition. This is the second consecutive year that Trkulja and Hollingworth have been paired for doubles matches at the ITA All-Americans, having been narrowly defeated in the opening round last season.
Opening today's action in the first round of the Qualifying Main Draw of the singles competition, Trkulja shined, defeating Columbia's Theo Winegar by a score of 7-6, 7-6 in straight sets.Winegar was a top-fifteen tennis recruit before entering Columbia's program in 2020. Following the victory, Trkulja is now tied for the nineth most singles wins in program history, with 50 singles victories across his career.
In the doubles competition, Hollingworth and Trkulja earned two gritty victories to advance to the Round of 16. In the Round of 64, Hollingworth and Trkulja battled after losing the first set to Columbia's Ishaan Ravichander and Henry Ruger, winning the match by a score of 4-6, 6-4, 10-7. Shortly after, Hollingworth and Trkulja showed determination, willing out a 6-4, 3-6, 12-10 win over Liberty's Rafael Marques Da Silva and Thando Longwe-Smit in the Round of 32.
Today's doubles victories propel Hollingworth and Trkulja to second in program history for career wins as a pair, with 33, and career tournament wins as a pair, with 14.

Tomorrow's action will begin with Trkulja continuing his pursuit in the Qualifying Main Draw, as he is scheduled to face Florida's Aleksander Orlikowski at 9 am. Later in the day, Hollingworth and Trkulja will play East Tennessee State's Dimitri Badra and Francisco Lamas in the Round of 16 at 4 pm.
