PALO ALTO, Calif. – Earlier today, the Gonzaga men's tennis team continued their fall tournament schedule by performing in the ITA Super Regionals. This is the third consecutive season the Zags have performed in the ITA Super Regionals, with Matthew Hollingworth and Sasha Trkulja advancing to the Quarterfinals of the Doubles Main Draw last season.
Opening with the Singles Main Draw, Trkulja picked up an impressive 7-6, 6-3 victory against Stanford's Kyle Kang to advance to the Round of 16. Kang was a five-star recruit, and ranked as high as the No.1 recruit in the country, before joining Stanford this season. In addition, Kang was recently ranked as the No.1 Freshman/Newcomer in collegiate tennis by ITA.
Later in the afternoon, Trkulja advanced to the Quarterfinals by winning 7-5, 7-6 against California's Tim Stepanov in straight sets. Entering the season, Stepanov was ranked 33rd in singles by ITF before beginning his collegiate career at California.
Hollingworth also performed in the Round of 32 of the Singles Main Draw. Facing Stanford's Samir Banerjee, Hollingworth battled, but lost by a score of 6-3, 6-2. In the consolations bracket, Hollingworth earned a comeback 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 victory over Oregon's Vlad Breazu to advance to the Round of 16 of the Consolation bracket.

Hollingworth and Trkulja will continue to represent Gonzaga at the ITA Super Regionals tomorrow, as they are scheduled to perform in the Doubles Main Draw against Stanford's Kyle Kang and Hudson Rivera at 10 a.m.
Trkulja will also perform in the Quarterfinals of the Singles Main Draw at 3 pm, and Hollingworth will perform in the Round of 16 of the Consolation bracket later in the afternoon.
