CHULA VISTA, Calif. - The Gonzaga women's rowing team traveled to California to compete in the first annual Triton Invitational this weekend and swept the competition, taking first in all eight races.
Starting off with the morning races, the Zags took first in the 1V8 race with a time of 6:46.1. University of San Diego took second at 6:54.0 and Santa Clara took third with a time of 6:59.4.
In the closest race of the day, Gonzaga took first in the morning 2V8 race with a time of 6:56.9 while SAC took second close behind at 6:56.6. USD followed in third at 7:02.3.
In the 1V4 race, GU took first at 7:50.3. USD took second at 8:02.9 and SAC took third at 8:16.7. GU also took first in the 2V4 race with a time of 7:55.5. Behind them in second was USD at 8:02.6 and SAC in third at 8:22.2.
Kicking off the afternoon races was the GU 1V8 boat, placing first at 6:42.7. SAC took second at 6:51.3 and LMU took third at 6:59.2.
In the afternoon 2V8 race, the Zags took first again with a time of 7:02.7 while SAC took second at 7:07.8 and LMU took third at 7:08.8.
The 1V4 race ended with GU in first with a time of 7:40.7. LMU took second at 8:01.9 and SAC took third at 8:10.7.
Finally, GU took first in the 2V4 race at 7:45.4 to sweep all eight races. SAC took second in this final race at 8:20.4.
Up Next: The Zags will travel to Oregon on April 29th to participate in the Dexter Lake Invite hosted by OSU.
