SPOKANE, Wash.--Gonzaga once again dominated singles play during the final day of the EWU Fall Classic as the Bulldogs won both singles brackets at the season-opening tournament Sunday.

Once the semifinal round was over, the Zags were guaranteed to take both singles flights as all four finalists hailed from Gonzaga. In the Red Singles bracket, Ruadhan O'Sullivan and Vincent Rettke met in the finals after both winning their semifinal matches. O'Sullivan downed Seattle U's Trenton Nield in three sets, recovering from a first set loss for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory. Rettke also saw a three-set contest, coming back on the bracket's top seed and defending champion Robert Dula for the win. Dula won a close first set 5-7 and pulled ahead 1-5 in the second, but Rettke refused to give in, forcing a tiebreak and winning it 7-6 (5). The freshman Bulldog didn't need extras in the third, taking down Dula 6-4 to advance to the final.

O'Sullivan then beat Rettke in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, for the top singles bracket's championship. It's O'Sullivan's first bracket title after joining the squad during winter break last season.

In the Black Singles bracket, Gonzaga entered the day with all four semifinal slots as Kyle Everly and Simon Homedes Dualde squared off in one while Ronzai Saurombe and Emilio Moreno played in the other. Everly beat his fellow freshman in two sets while Saurombe took three to get past Moreno. In the final, it was the young gun who came out on top as Everly topped the Zags' lone senior in a three-set match 6-2, 6-7, 6-3.

This is Gonzaga's first sweep of a tournament's main singles brackets since Oct. 2014. Then, the Bulldogs claimed both singles titles at their own Gonzaga Fall Tournament. Former Zags Alvaro Nazal and Sergio Chip captured those championships.

Sunday's semifinal matches took place at the EWU Tennis Courts in Cheney, Wash., host of the EWU Fall Classic. Both championship matches, however, occurred at The Stevens Center in Spokane since only GU players competed for bracket titles.

"The guys played well in singles this weekend," said Gonzaga men's tennis head coach Peter MacDonald. "We could see the guys developing points against their opponents. We have a lot of work to do on our doubles before the UC Davis tournament, but we have established a strong culture. I am confident the guys can step up to the challenge."

The Zags will next take the court at the Aggie Invitational, hosted in Davis, California, by UC Davis. That tournament will run from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.
