Sept. 6, 2017 SPOKANE, Wash.--Gonzaga men's tennis head coach Peter MacDonald announced the squad's schedule for the fall of 2017 Wednesday. The Bulldogs will play in four tournaments during the fall semester, three of which they participated in last year.
"The tough fall will be a great lead-in to duals for our guys," said Gonzaga men's tennis head coach Peter MacDonald. "This is a time for us to sharpen our singles and doubles games. We're looking forward to getting going."
The campaign begins Sept. 29-Oct. 1 in Davis, Calif., for the Aggie Invitational. Rising sophomores Vincent Rettke and Sam Feit each won consolation brackets at the UC Davis-hosted event last year. One week later, Gonzaga heads to Boise, Idaho, for Boise State's Dar Walter Fall Classic Oct. 6-8; it will be the program's first tournament in Boise since 2012.
Gonzaga will face the best in the region Oct. 19-23 at the ITA Northwest Regionals. Taking place in Stockton, Calif., this year, the regional championship will be GU's toughest test of the fall.
The Bulldogs will wrap up the fall at home with their annual Bulldog Classic, held Oct. 27-29 inside The Stevens Center. The Zags have defended their home courts well over the last three fall seasons, winning four bracket titles inside Stevens since 2014. Last year, Emilio Moreno won the B Singles flight, his first career bracket title.
Six Zags return from the 2016-17 campaign: Moreno, Rettke, Feit, Ruadhan O'Sullivan, Kyle Everly, and Simon Homedes Dualde. They're joined by incoming freshman Matthew Perkins of West Linn, Ore., and sophomore Bryan Husin, a transfer from Pacific.
